Beef and Broccoli Recipe

This Beef and Broccoli recipe is a quick and flavorful stir-fry with tender beef, vibrant broccoli, and a savory sauce that’s perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Small bowl (for sauce)
  • Whisk
  • Tongs or spatula
  • Measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin thinly sliced against the grain
  • 4 cups broccoli florets fresh or frozen
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • ½ cup soy sauce low-sodium preferred
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked white rice for serving

Instructions

  • Prepare the Beef:
  • Thinly slice the beef against the grain into bite-sized strips. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  • Make the Sauce:
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water. Set aside.
  • Cook the Broccoli:
  • In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and sauté for 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. If using frozen broccoli, cook for a bit longer. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set it aside.
  • Cook the Beef:
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once the oil is hot, add the sliced beef and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it’s browned and just cooked through. Add the garlic and ginger, and sauté for another 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Combine the Ingredients:
  • Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet with the beef. Stir in the sauce mixture and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli evenly.
  • Serve:
  • Serve the beef and broccoli hot over steamed rice.
