Balsamic Glaze Recipe

This Balsamic Glaze recipe creates a sweet, tangy syrup that enhances everything from salads to meats. Simple to make with just two ingredients, it’s a versatile addition to any dish.

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Heat-resistant spatula or spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey

Instructions

  • Combine Ingredients:
  • In a small saucepan, combine the balsamic vinegar and brown sugar (or honey). Stir to dissolve the sugar into the vinegar.
  • Simmer the Mixture:
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat slightly and continue simmering, stirring occasionally.
  • Reduce to Glaze:
  • Allow the vinegar mixture to simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until it thickens to a syrupy consistency. The glaze should coat the back of a spoon. Be sure to stir occasionally to prevent burning.
  • Cool and Store:
  • Once the glaze has thickened, remove it from heat and allow it to cool. It will continue to thicken as it cools. If the glaze becomes too thick, you can thin it out with a small amount of water or vinegar.
  • Serve:
  • Drizzle the balsamic glaze over your favorite dishes. It’s perfect for salads, roasted vegetables, grilled meats, or even fresh mozzarella and tomatoes.
