Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage mild or spicy
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 tubes refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg for egg wash, optional
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley optional, for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Pastry brush (for egg wash, optional)

Method

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Filling
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Add the softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to the sausage. Stir until well combined and creamy. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. Step 2: Assemble the Crescents
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into individual triangles.
  7. Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture at the wide end of each triangle and roll it up towards the pointed end. Tuck in the sides slightly to keep the filling from spilling out.
  8. (Optional) Whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of the crescents for a golden, shiny finish.
  9. Step 3: Bake
  10. Arrange the crescents on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  11. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.
  12. Step 4: Serve
  13. Let the crescents cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley for an extra touch of flavor. Enjoy warm!
  14. Tips
  15. Use spicy sausage for an extra kick of flavor.
  16. Add shredded cheddar cheese for a cheesier filling.
  17. Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven or air fryer for a crispier texture.
  18. Serve with honey mustard, ranch, or marinara sauce for dipping.
