Meat and Sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef Juicy and flavorful
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup Can use homemade version
  • ½ cup beef broth Adds richness to the sauce
Vegetables
  • 2 cups butternut squash, diced Seasonal and nutritious
  • 1 cup carrots, sliced Adds sweetness and color
  • 1 cup green beans, trimmed and chopped Fresh or frozen are both fine
  • 1 cup diced onion For flavor base
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Enhances overall flavor
Toppings
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded For gooey topping
Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme Classic herb for flavor
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to preference

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent.
  4. Stir in the butternut squash, carrots, and green beans. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup and beef broth until well combined. Pour this mixture into the beef and vegetable skillet, stirring until everything is well coated.
  6. Add the dried thyme, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish. Top with a generous layer of cheddar cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  2. Let it cool for a few minutes, then serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to swap out vegetables based on what you have available. Cheese variations like gouda or mozzarella can be used for a different twist.
