Air Fryer Potato Chips Recipe

Crispy, crunchy potato chips made right in your air fryer! This quick and healthier recipe is perfect for snack time or as a side dish, with minimal oil and maximum flavor.

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Mandoline slicer or sharp knife
  • Mixing bowl
  • Paper towels

Ingredients

  • 2 medium-sized potatoes Russet, Yukon Gold, or your choice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  • Optional seasonings: garlic powder paprika, black pepper, or dried herbs

Instructions

  • Prepare the Potatoes:
  • Wash and peel the potatoes (optional, depending on your preference). Use a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife to cut the potatoes into thin, even slices—about 1/16 inch thick.
  • Soak the Slices:
  • Place the potato slices in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for 20–30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch, resulting in crispier chips.
  • Dry the Slices:
  • Drain the potato slices and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels. Any excess moisture can prevent them from crisping up properly.
  • Season the Slices:
  • In a mixing bowl, toss the potato slices with olive oil to coat evenly. Add salt and any additional seasonings of your choice.
  • Preheat the Air Fryer:
  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  • Air Fry the Chips:
  • Arrange the potato slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overlap for even cooking.
  • Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy. Watch closely during the last few minutes to avoid burning.
  • Cool and Serve:
  • Remove the chips from the air fryer and let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes. This helps them crisp up even more. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for later.
