Crispy, golden French fries made in the air fryer! This easy recipe delivers perfectly seasoned fries with less oil—perfect as a snack or side dish.

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Paper towels

Ingredients

  • 3 medium russet potatoes
  • 1 –2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt plus more to taste
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Optional: chopped parsley or grated Parmesan for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Potatoes:
  • Wash and peel the potatoes (optional). Slice them into evenly sized sticks, about 1/4-inch thick.
  • Soak the Potatoes:
  • Place the sliced potatoes in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for 20–30 minutes. This step removes excess starch, helping the fries become crispy.
  • Dry the Potatoes:
  • Drain the potatoes and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels.
  • Season the Fries:
  • In a large mixing bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  • Preheat the Air Fryer:
  • Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for 5 minutes.
  • Cook the Fries:
  • Arrange the seasoned potato sticks in the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.
  • Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping.
  • Garnish and Serve:
  • Remove the fries from the air fryer and sprinkle with additional salt if desired. Garnish with parsley or Parmesan for extra flavor. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
