Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 2 cups diced apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) Diced for filling.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon For flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
For the Pastry
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts Follow package instructions.
  • 1 large egg For egg wash.
For Serving
  • to taste Whipped cream or ice cream Optional topping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Let sit for about 10 minutes to meld flavors.
  2. Unroll your refrigerated pie crusts on a clean, lightly floured surface. Cut out circles about 4-5 inches in diameter.
Assembly
  1. Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each circle. Be careful not to overfill.
  2. Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together. Use a fork to crimp the edges for decoration.
  3. In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the apple pie bombs.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the bombs in the basket without overcrowding and cook for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown.
  2. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving warm with whipped cream or ice cream.

Notes

For substitutions, consider adding raisins or chopped nuts to the filling. Keep an eye on cooking time as air fryers vary. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
