Method
Preparation
- In a bowl, mix the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Let sit for about 10 minutes to meld flavors.
- Unroll your refrigerated pie crusts on a clean, lightly floured surface. Cut out circles about 4-5 inches in diameter.
Assembly
- Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each circle. Be careful not to overfill.
- Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together. Use a fork to crimp the edges for decoration.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the apple pie bombs.
Cooking
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the bombs in the basket without overcrowding and cook for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
Notes
For substitutions, consider adding raisins or chopped nuts to the filling. Keep an eye on cooking time as air fryers vary. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
