Preparation
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
- Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and the egg. Mix until the dough begins to form.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until you achieve a smooth and elastic texture.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 25 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough gently, then divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cover the rolls with the towel again and let them rise for another 15-20 minutes.
- While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Once the second rise is complete, bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
- As soon as they come out of the oven, brush the tops with melted butter for that extra touch of softness and flavor.
Notes
Check yeast freshness for optimal rising. Create a warm environment for rising if necessary. Kneading is essential for texture.
