Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and the egg. Mix until the dough begins to form.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until you achieve a smooth and elastic texture.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 25 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough gently, then divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. Cover the rolls with the towel again and let them rise for another 15-20 minutes.
  8. While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Once the second rise is complete, bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  10. As soon as they come out of the oven, brush the tops with melted butter for that extra touch of softness and flavor.

Notes

Check yeast freshness for optimal rising. Create a warm environment for rising if necessary. Kneading is essential for texture.
