      Equipment

      • Large skillet or frying pan
      • Cutting board
      • Sharp knife
      • Wooden spoon or spatula

      Instructions

      1. Heat the olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
      2. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
      3. In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook for 3 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
      4. Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender and slightly caramelized.
      5. Sprinkle the smoked paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper over the cabbage. Stir to combine.
      6. Return the browned sausage to the skillet, mixing it with the cabbage. Cook for 2–3 more minutes to heat through.
      7. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. Serve hot and enjoy!

      Tips

      • Add a splash of chicken broth or white wine to deglaze the pan after cooking the sausage for extra flavor.
      • Swap smoked sausage for turkey or plant-based sausage for a healthier or vegetarian-friendly option.
      • Garnish with fresh parsley or a squeeze of lemon juice for a bright, fresh finish.
      • Serve as a main dish with crusty bread or as a side with mashed potatoes or rice.
