Few dishes embody comfort food like meatloaf. This tried-and-true recipe yields a tender, flavorful loaf with a perfectly caramelized glaze. Whether served with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a side salad, meatloaf is a versatile and nostalgic meal that everyone loves.

      Equipment:

      • Large mixing bowl
      • Loaf pan or baking sheet
      • Measuring cups and spoons
      • Small mixing bowl
      • Knife and cutting board
      • Aluminum foil (optional)

      Ingredients:

      For the Meatloaf:

      • 2 pounds ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
      • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
      • 2 eggs
      • 1 small onion, finely diced
      • 2 garlic cloves, minced
      • 1 cup milk
      • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
      • 1 teaspoon salt
      • ½ teaspoon black pepper
      • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

      For the Glaze:

      • ½ cup ketchup
      • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
      • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (or yellow mustard)

      Instructions:

      1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
      2. Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, garlic, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and parsley. Mix gently with your hands or a spoon until just combined. Avoid overmixing, as this can make the meatloaf dense.
      3. Shape the Meatloaf:
Transfer the mixture to the loaf pan or baking sheet. Shape it into a loaf, about 8 inches long and 4 inches wide if using a baking sheet.
      4. Prepare the Glaze:
In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard. Spread half of the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
      5. Bake the Meatloaf:
Bake in the preheated oven for 45–55 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
      6. Add the Remaining Glaze:
About 10 minutes before the meatloaf is finished baking, spread the remaining glaze on top. This helps it caramelize and adds extra flavor.
      7. Rest and Serve:
Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!

      Tips:

      • Add grated carrots or zucchini to the mixture for added moisture and a touch of veggies.
      • Substitute milk with beef broth or tomato juice for a different flavor profile.
      • Leftovers make excellent meatloaf sandwiches the next day!

This classic meatloaf recipe is a timeless dish that’s as comforting as it is delicious. The tangy glaze and perfectly seasoned meat make it a dinner table favorite. Easy to prepare and packed with flavor, this recipe is sure to become a family staple!
