Looking for a breakfast or brunch idea that’s both indulgent and easy to prepare? This Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast combines the best of two worlds: luscious cheesecake and golden, buttery French toast. Fresh strawberries and a hint of sweetness make this dish a showstopper!

      Ingredients

      For the Cheesecake Filling:

      • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
      • ¼ cup powdered sugar
      • ½ tsp vanilla extract

      For the French Toast:

      • 1 loaf of brioche or thick-cut bread (sliced into 1-inch slices)
      • 3 large eggs
      • 1 cup whole milk
      • 1 tsp vanilla extract
      • ½ tsp cinnamon (optional)
      • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
      • Butter or oil for cooking

      For the Topping:

      • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
      • ¼ cup strawberry jam or preserves
      • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

      Equipment

      • Mixing bowl
      • Whisk
      • Shallow dish for dipping
      • Non-stick skillet or griddle

      Instructions

      1. Prepare the Cheesecake Filling:
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
      2. Make the French Toast Batter:
In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon (if using), and granulated sugar.
      3. Assemble the Sandwiches:
Spread a thick layer of the cheesecake filling onto one side of a slice of bread. Add another slice of bread on top to form a sandwich. Repeat with the remaining bread and filling.
      4. Cook the French Toast:
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter or oil. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated. Place the sandwiches on the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
      5. Prepare the Topping:
In a small saucepan, warm the strawberry jam until it’s slightly runny. Toss the sliced strawberries in the jam until coated.
      6. Serve:
Top the French toast with the strawberry mixture and dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.

      Tips

      • Use day-old brioche or challah bread for the best texture.
      • For a lighter option, substitute the cream cheese filling with whipped cream or Greek yogurt.
      • Add a sprinkle of chopped nuts or granola for some crunch.
