Garlic knots are a classic, crowd-pleasing appetizer or side that’s perfect for serving with Italian dishes, soups, or as a standalone snack. These fluffy, buttery knots are made from a simple dough that’s tied into adorable, bite-sized shapes and brushed with a delicious garlic butter sauce. With golden edges and a soft, chewy texture, these garlic knots will quickly become a favorite addition to your table.

      Equipment:

      • Large mixing bowl
      • Stand mixer (optional)
      • Baking sheet
      • Pastry brush
      • Small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl

      Ingredients:

      For the Dough:

      • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
      • 1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
      • 1 tablespoon sugar
      • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
      • 1 teaspoon salt
      • 2 tablespoons olive oil

      For the Garlic Butter:

      • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
      • 2 cloves garlic, minced
      • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
      • ¼ teaspoon salt

      Instructions:

      1. Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water and sprinkle the yeast over the top. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, until it becomes foamy.
      2. Make the Dough
Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a lightly floured surface (or with a stand mixer) for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
      3. Shape the Knots
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 6-inch rope, then tie each rope into a knot, tucking the ends under.
      4. Bake the Knots
Place the knots on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
      5. Make the Garlic Butter
While the knots bake, melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl. Stir in the minced garlic, parsley, and salt.
      6. Brush and Serve
Remove the garlic knots from the oven and immediately brush them generously with the garlic butter mixture. Serve warm.

      Presentation Ideas:

      • Serve in a bread basket with extra garlic butter on the side.
      • Garnish with a sprinkle of grated Parmesan or fresh parsley for a touch of color.
      • Arrange around a bowl of marinara sauce for dipping.

      Tips:

      • For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of Italian seasoning to the garlic butter.
      • Make the dough ahead and let it rise overnight in the refrigerator for a more developed flavor.
      • You can freeze baked garlic knots and reheat them in the oven for an easy side dish on busy nights.

Homemade garlic knots are easy to make and perfect for any occasion. With their soft, fluffy centers and buttery, garlicky flavor, these knots are irresistible. Whether you’re serving them with pasta, soup, or as a tasty appetizer, they’re sure to be a hit with everyone!
