Cream cheese frosting is a beloved classic, known for its velvety texture and tangy-sweet flavor. Whether you’re topping a rich carrot cake, red velvet cupcakes, or spreading it over cinnamon rolls, this frosting is easy to whip up and always a hit.

      Equipment:

      • Stand mixer or hand mixer
      • Mixing bowl
      • Rubber spatula
      • Measuring cups and spoons

      Ingredients:

      • 8 ounces (1 block) cream cheese, softened
      • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
      • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
      • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
      • Pinch of salt

      Instructions:

      1. Prepare Ingredients:
        • Ensure both the cream cheese and butter are softened to room temperature for easy blending and a smooth consistency.
      2. Mix the Base:
        • In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
      3. Add Sugar and Flavoring:
        • Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed to avoid splattering.
        • Add the vanilla extract and salt, then increase the speed to medium-high and beat until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
      4. Adjust Consistency:
        • If the frosting is too thick, add 1–2 teaspoons of milk or heavy cream to thin it. If it’s too thin, add a bit more powdered sugar.
      5. Use Immediately or Store:
        • Spread or pipe the frosting onto your baked goods. If not using immediately, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Allow it to come to room temperature and re-whip before using.

      Tips:

      • For extra tang, add a teaspoon of lemon juice or zest.
      • Always sift the powdered sugar to avoid lumps in your frosting.
      • This recipe can be doubled or halved, depending on your needs.

Cream cheese frosting is a versatile staple that pairs beautifully with countless desserts. With its luscious texture and delightful flavor, it’s sure to elevate your baked treats to the next level. Enjoy spreading sweetness!
