Chimichurri sauce is a flavorful and tangy condiment that originates from Argentina. It’s a bright, herbaceous sauce typically served with grilled meats, but it can also be used to dress vegetables, fish, or even as a dipping sauce. Made with fresh parsley, garlic, vinegar, and olive oil, chimichurri is incredibly versatile and simple to prepare. It’s the ideal complement to any barbecue or grilled meal.

      Equipment:

      • Cutting board
      • Sharp knife
      • Small bowl
      • Whisk or spoon
      • Measuring spoons

      Ingredients:

      • 1 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
      • 3 cloves garlic, minced
      • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
      • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, finely chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
      • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
      • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
      • Salt and pepper to taste

      Instructions:

      1. Prepare the Herbs:
Finely chop the parsley and oregano (if using fresh) and mince the garlic.
      2. Mix the Ingredients:
In a small bowl, combine the chopped parsley, minced garlic, red wine vinegar, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using).
      3. Add the Olive Oil:
Slowly whisk in the olive oil until the sauce is well combined.
      4. Season:
Taste the chimichurri sauce and season with salt and pepper to your preference.
      5. Let it Rest:
Allow the chimichurri to sit for at least 10-15 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld together. You can also refrigerate it for up to 3 days for even more depth of flavor.
      6. Serve:
Serve the chimichurri sauce as a topping for grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or even as a marinade.

      Tips:

      • For an extra kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a small splash of hot sauce.
      • You can use cilantro in place of parsley for a different flavor profile.
      • If you prefer a smoother texture, pulse the ingredients in a food processor instead of chopping by hand.

Chimichurri sauce is an easy-to-make, fresh, and vibrant sauce that adds a burst of flavor to any dish. Whether you’re grilling steaks, chicken, or vegetables, this herb-packed sauce will elevate your meal with minimal effort. Give it a try for your next barbecue or dinner gathering!
