      Bruschetta is a simple Italian appetizer that’s all about fresh, vibrant flavors. Crispy slices of bread are topped with a blend of ripe tomatoes, fresh basil, and garlic, then drizzled with olive oil for the perfect bite.       Ingredients

      • 1 baguette or Italian loaf, sliced into 1/2-inch thick slices
      • 2 tbsp olive oil (for brushing bread)

      • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
      • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar (optional)
      • Salt and pepper to taste

      Instructions

      1. Prepare the bread:
        • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat a grill.
        • Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
      2. Toast the bread:
        • Bake the bread for 5–7 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy. If using a grill, toast for 2–3 minutes per side.
      3. Prepare the tomato topping:
        • In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the mixture sit for 10–15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
      4. Assemble the bruschetta:
        • Spoon the tomato mixture onto the toasted bread slices just before serving.
      5. Serve:
        • Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and drizzle with a little more olive oil if desired. Serve immediately.

      Tips

      • Use fresh ingredients: The flavor of bruschetta depends on the freshness of the tomatoes and basil.
      • Make it ahead: The tomato topping can be made a few hours in advance and stored in the fridge. Assemble just before serving to keep the bread crispy.
