Peanut butter cookies are the ultimate comfort dessert. Their rich, nutty flavor and soft, crumbly texture make them irresistible. This simple recipe brings together pantry staples to create cookies that are perfect for snacking, sharing, or even gifting. With their signature fork-tine pattern, they’re as fun to make as they are to eat!

      Ingredients

      • 1 cup creamy or crunchy peanut butter
      • 1 cup granulated sugar
      • 1 large egg
      • 1 tsp vanilla extract
      • Optional: 1/4 tsp salt (if using unsalted peanut butter)

      Equipment

      • Mixing bowl
      • Whisk or electric mixer
      • Fork
      • Baking sheet
      • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat

      Instructions

      1. Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
      2. Mix the ingredients:
In a mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, sugar, egg, vanilla extract, and salt (if using). Mix until smooth and well combined.
      3. Form the cookies:
Scoop out about 1 tablespoon of dough and roll it into a ball. Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
      4. Create the signature pattern:
Using a fork, gently press down on each dough ball to create a crisscross pattern.
      5. Bake the cookies:
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops look slightly golden. Avoid overbaking, as the cookies will firm up as they cool.
      6. Cool and serve:
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!

      Tips

      • Add mix-ins: For extra flavor, fold in chocolate chips, chopped peanuts, or even mini marshmallows.
      • Gluten-free option: This recipe is naturally gluten-free since it doesn’t require flour.
      • Storage: Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze them for longer storage.
