Cooking rice in an Instant Pot is a game-changer. It’s fast, hassle-free, and delivers consistent results every time. Whether you’re preparing fluffy white rice, hearty brown rice, or fragrant basmati, the Instant Pot simplifies the process. Say goodbye to stovetop monitoring and hello to perfectly cooked rice in minutes!

      Equipment:

      • Instant Pot or any electric pressure cooker
      • Measuring cups
      • Fine mesh strainer (for rinsing rice)
      • Spatula or rice paddle

      Ingredients:

      • 1 cup rice (white, brown, jasmine, or basmati)
      • 1 cup water (adjust for rice type; see tips)
      • Pinch of salt (optional)
      • 1 teaspoon butter or oil (optional, for extra flavor)

      Instructions:

      1. Rinse the Rice:
Place the rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch for fluffier rice.
      2. Add Ingredients to the Pot:
Transfer the rinsed rice to the Instant Pot. Add water, salt, and butter or oil if desired.
      3. Set the Cooking Time:
        • For white rice: Cook on high pressure for 3 minutes.
        • For jasmine or basmati rice: Cook on high pressure for 4 minutes.
        • For brown rice: Cook on high pressure for 22 minutes.
      4. Seal and Cook:
Secure the Instant Pot lid and set the valve to the sealing position. Select the “Pressure Cook” or “Manual” setting and adjust the cooking time based on the rice type.
      5. Natural Release:
Once the cooking time ends, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes before carefully switching the valve to the venting position to release any remaining pressure.
      6. Fluff and Serve:
Open the lid, fluff the rice with a fork or rice paddle, and serve immediately.

      Tips:

      • Use a 1:1 water-to-rice ratio for white, jasmine, and basmati rice. For brown rice, increase the water to 1 ¼ cups per cup of rice.
      • For extra flavor, substitute water with chicken or vegetable broth.
      • Leftover rice can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
