      Ingredients

      • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)
      • 2 tbsp olive oil
      • Salt and pepper, to taste

      For the honey garlic sauce:

      • 3 tbsp honey
      • 3 cloves garlic, minced
      • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
      • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional, for a bit of tang)
      • 1 tbsp lemon juice
      • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)

      Equipment

      • Skillet or frying pan
      • Small bowl (for mixing the sauce)
      • Basting brush (optional)
      • Tongs or spatula

      Instructions

      1. Prepare the salmon:
Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
      2. Make the honey garlic sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, Dijon mustard (if using), lemon juice, and grated ginger (if using) until well combined.
      3. Cook the salmon:
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the salmon fillets, skin-side down. Cook for 4-5 minutes on the first side until golden brown.
      4. Flip and glaze:
Flip the salmon fillets over and pour the honey garlic sauce over them. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, spooning the sauce over the salmon occasionally, until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
      5. Serve:
Once the salmon is cooked, remove it from the skillet. Spoon the remaining sauce over the top and serve immediately.

      Tips

      • Perfectly cooked salmon: For best results, aim for an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
      • Skin-on salmon: Cooking with the skin on helps to retain moisture and flavor, but you can remove the skin before cooking if you prefer.
      • Serve with sides: This salmon pairs wonderfully with steamed vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad.
      • Make it spicy: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or sriracha to the honey garlic sauce for a spicy kick.
