A green smoothie is an easy and delicious way to pack in a variety of nutrients, especially when you’re looking to boost your energy or get more vegetables into your diet. This green smoothie is vibrant, refreshing, and made with wholesome ingredients like spinach, banana, and apple, offering a perfect balance of natural sweetness and green goodness. Whether you’re having it as a breakfast, snack, or post-workout drink, this smoothie will leave you feeling energized and nourished!

      Ingredients

      • 1 cup fresh spinach (or kale, or a mix of leafy greens)
      • 1 banana (frozen or fresh)
      • ½ cup apple or orange juice (or non-dairy milk for a creamier texture)
      • ½ cup Greek yogurt (or dairy-free yogurt)
      • 1 small apple (cored and chopped)
      • 1 tablespoon chia seeds or flaxseeds (optional for added fiber)
      • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional for sweetness)
      • ½ cup ice (optional for a colder, thicker smoothie)

      Equipment

      • Blender
      • Knife and cutting board
      • Measuring cups and spoons
      • Glass or smoothie cup

      Instructions

      1. Prepare the ingredients:
If you haven’t done so already, peel the banana, core and chop the apple, and gather the rest of your ingredients.
      2. Blend the smoothie:
Add the spinach, banana, chopped apple, yogurt, and juice (or milk) into the blender. Add the optional chia or flaxseeds for extra nutrition, and honey or maple syrup for sweetness. If you like a colder smoothie, throw in a handful of ice cubes.
      3. Blend until smooth:
Blend on high for 30-60 seconds, or until everything is well combined and the texture is smooth. If the smoothie is too thick, add a bit more juice or milk to reach your desired consistency.
      4. Serve:
Pour the smoothie into a glass or cup, and enjoy immediately!

      Tips

      • Leafy greens: You can substitute spinach with other greens like kale, collard greens, or even a pre-made greens powder for added nutrients.
      • Sweetness: Adjust the sweetness with more honey or maple syrup, or use a sweeter fruit like pineapple if you prefer a less green taste.
      • Superfoods: Add a tablespoon of protein powder, spirulina, or matcha for an extra nutritional boost.
      • Vegan option: Use non-dairy yogurt and plant-based milk for a vegan-friendly smoothie.
