      Ingredients

      • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
      • ½ tsp baking soda
      • ½ tsp baking powder
      • ¼ tsp salt
      • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
      • ¾ cup granulated sugar
      • ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
      • 1 large egg
      • 1 tsp vanilla extract
      • 1 tsp lemon zest
      • 1 ½ cups fresh blueberries
      • ½ cup white chocolate chips (optional)

      Equipment

      • Mixing bowls
      • Electric mixer
      • Baking sheets
      • Parchment paper
      • Cooling rack

      Instructions

      1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
      2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
      3. Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
      4. Add Wet Ingredients:
Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and lemon zest until combined.
      5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
      6. Fold in Blueberries:
Gently fold in the fresh blueberries. If desired, add white chocolate chips for extra sweetness.
      7. Shape the Cookies:
Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
      8. Bake:
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may appear slightly soft, but they will firm up as the cookies cool.
      9. Cool:
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

      Tips

      • Use fresh blueberries for the best flavor and texture. Frozen blueberries can be used but should be thawed and patted dry first.
      • Add a sprinkle of turbinado sugar on top for extra sparkle and crunch.
      • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
